Welcome to the fourth issue of Waccamaw, an online literary journal published at Coastal Carolina University.
This fourth issue was launched October 31, 2009: the 214th anniversary of John Keats’s birth. This issue marks the second for which we accepted unsolicited submissions, and once again, we were overwhelmed by the response. During our six-week submission period, we received over 250 poems, stories, and essays from writers around the world, representing 39 of the United States, the District of Columbia, and eight foreign nations. This volume of submissions again made the editors’ jobs extremely difficult, but richly rewarding. I wish to particularly thank Joe Bueter and Hastings Hensel for their assistance in selecting the poetry for this issue.
Our next period for accepting unsolicited submissions runs January 1 through February 15, 2010. Interested authors should consult our submission guidelines. Please note that we only accept submissions online.
Thank you for visiting our journal. We hope you will enjoy this issue and once again find the literary work we’re presenting to be as essential and mysterious as the water of the Waccamaw River that has flowed through Conway, South Carolina, home of Coastal Carolina University, since long before the area bore any of those names. Welcome, once again, to Waccamaw.
